This post diverts into my second concept for a space skirmish game. Space pirates. As much as I love the magical element of Frostgrave part of me just craves a simple, non-mystical sci-fi.
In my space pirates variant, we use the Captain rules from the Frostgrave expansion “Sellsword” for our Warband leader. Otherwise, we just have to tweak and reskin a few things. Money changes from gold to credits for example.
Energy pistol- no damage mod-12″ max range
Energy rifle- +2 damage-24″ range-must wait a turn to recharge.
Grenade-+3 shooting attack- 6″range( 1.5″ AOE)
Other weapons in the game remain the same, just look different. The area that will need the most retooling for both of my variants is the loot section. For quick, though, just substitute any magical item for a tech equivalent. IE a magic sword is a power blade, etc.
So next I will do a teched up version of the loot tables.
