This will be a series of articles about hacking Frostgrave (a delightful fantasy skirmish game) into two different Sci-fi skirmish games. I won’t be discussing rules much as there should be little to no need to change them. This will simply be a reskinning of the core rules. If a rule or two needs to be modified I will mention it but this will require at least the core book and the Sellsword digital expansion. Two reasons for this, one is that this work is in print and is the IP of a wonderful creator who deserves all the money he gets. The second is I don’t want to get sued. ;p
So the general concept of Frostgrave is wizards fighting over lost magic treasures. So we need a similar thing for our game. I have two in mind.
- Psychic warriors fighting over the ruins of lost civilizations for new psychic talents and alien artifacts.
- Space pirates fighting each other over looting rights for ships, ruins, and colonies.
So the first mirrors the idea of the original closer than the second but gives us a broader canvas to paint upon. The second frees us from any sort of magic component taking away a layer of game complexity.
So I will start with the first. The next post will be a background of this setting. Who our psychics are and what happened.
